Understandings upon which the Volunteer Agreement of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity (and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust) is given
THE VOLUNTEER IS RESPONSIBLE
Serving as a Volunteer is a privilege, carrying specific obligations in a high trust environment.
THE VOLUNTEER IS ETHICAL
The Volunteer is expected to conform to the same high standards of behaviour as the professional staff of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
THE VOLUNTEER IS LOYAL
The Volunteer is expected to act with integrity at all times, and to be supportive and compassionate with patients and their families.
THE VOLUNTEER IS DISCREET
The Volunteer never discusses a patient’s condition, or matters concerning his or her welfare, thus respecting the confidential nature of privileged information.
THE VOLUNTEER IS CONSTRUCTIVE
Any areas of concern should be referred to the Chairs/Heads of the respective volunteer services..
THE VOLUNTEER IS HELPFUL
The Volunteer maintains a good relationship with all colleagues and will always be dignified and considerate in the Hospital.
THE VOLUNTEER IS JUDICIOUS
In situations which have not been covered by specific guidelines, the Volunteer is expected to consult with the Chairs/Heads of the respective volunteer services.
THE VOLUNTEER IS DISCIPLINED
The Volunteer understands the restrictions of his or her position
